My name is Patrick McGilvray, I‘m your host – and The Weight Loss Coach for Runners.
I’m also an experienced marathoner, ultrarunner, and Master Life Coach.
I’ve learned a lot of valuable lessons over the years and one of the biggest was this: Running is not a very good way to lose weight.
I know this goes against everything you’ve ever heard, but it’s true!
I am an avid runner and regularly do 1-2 full marathons a year so I’m always training for something. I started gaining weight a few years ago and no matter how many more miles I ran, or how diligent I tracked my calories, I could not lose that weight. I gained over 40 lbs in two years!
I realized that “running more and eating less” was not the answer.
So I completely changed my diet and my whole mindset around food, nutrition, and running.
Since making these changes, I’ve lost the 40 lbs and I have a whole new outlook on life! I am leaner and stronger than I’ve ever been and running is a heck of a lot easier and way more fun now.
I started sharing my weight loss program with my coaching clients, and I started sharing some of this info here on the podcast, and then something interesting started happening.
Runners from all over the world began reaching out to me. “Patrick, I’ve been listening to your podcast and it’s like you’re speaking directly to me.” “I run every day and keep gaining weight! I need help!” “What is happening? I run several marathons a year and can’t lose weight!” “Running has become super hard for me these days. Why can’t I lose weight?”
So how do you change your diet so you can lose weight? How do you improve your running performance? How do you get faster? How do you run longer distances? How do you develop the right mindset to be able to stick with it when it gets tough? (and it will get tough) How do you make running easier and more fun? How do you become a lean running machine?
Answering all of these questions is why I created the Running Lean Podcast!
In each weekly episode, I focus on a topic around running, nutrition, weight loss, and the mindset you need to accomplish it all.
My goal with this podcast is to teach you how to get leaner and stronger so you can run faster and run longer than you ever thought possible.
